5 tips to help make you more efficient

You can never be too organised…fact! Do you dream of seeing an empty to-do list or a manageable mailbox? Here are 5 of my tips to help make you more efficient.

1. Have a ‘To Do List’

I have a to-do list to clear my mind of all the things that I need to do. It helps to see all the tasks written down and makes them more manageable. To-do lists can be prioritised and categorised - writing the tasks in the order that they need to be completed. Categorising tasks into days, work and personal or business areas can help with seeing clearly what there is to do.

2. Colour code your diary

Who doesn’t love a bit of colour? Colour coding your diary and blocking out time for an afternoon walk or ‘me time’ is essential. Colouring meetings, deadlines and personal items helps when looking at a week's overview. It is clearer and more manageable to read.

3. Create email sub-folders

Sometimes trying to find an old email can be a needle in a haystack, or having a mailbox with lots of emails sitting in the main inbox is not helpful. Categorising your emails into sub-folders can help with keeping all your emails organised and efficient.

4. Take a break

Keeping time blocked out for yourself is essential. No one can keep going indefinitely, recharging the batteries can help you become more productive. Even a 20-minute post-lunch walk can refocus the mind and you will find you have a great afternoon.

5. Delegate

As hard as it can be, sometimes delegating tasks is needed. You can’t always do everything, focus energy and time on the things you enjoy and are talented at. Maybe you could outsource someone to book travel, organise meetings, do your invoicing, social media or the tasks you know you need to do, but don’t always have time to do.
